Pretoria - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe heads to Kenya today to strengthen bilateral cooperation between that country and South Africa.
Motlanthe and his Kenyan counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka will hold discussions on issues relating to bilateral relations between the two countries, developments in the East African Region as well as global and multilateral matters.
The visit will review progress on the ongoing discussions the two countries have had towards a more robust bilateral cooperation agenda, under the framework of an expanded Kenya-South Africa Joint Commission for Cooperation.
Motlanthe and Musyoka will also witness the signing of agreements on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and a Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture.
Areas of coperation that will be given priority during bilateral consultations include trade, agriculture, tourism, livestock development, fisheries, security issues, higher education, science and technology among others.
Motlanthe's delegation includes the Minister for Trade and Industry, Rob Davies, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Tina Joemat-Petterson, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Tokozile Xasa and Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim.
