Pretoria - Bad weather has put a damper on voter registration in the Northern Cape where some voting stations were closed because of flooding.
At least four voting stations in the Keimos and Kakamas areas were inaccessible because of flooding, provincial electorate officer in the Northern Cape, Bonolo Modise, said.
However, the four voting stations were in relatively small areas of the province and the impact of them not being opened will not be huge, said Modise.
Heavy rain in Kimberly and Upington also kept people away from voting stations.
By 1pm on Saturday 11 000 people had visited voting stations in the province, a figure Modise described as promising.
He said if the inclement weather persisted, plans would be put in place ensure that those in the affected areas were given the chance to register to vote in coming weeks.
