Sedibe, SAFA part ways

Pretoria - The South African Football Association (SAFA) is currently searching for a Chief Executive Officer who will take the association to greater heights.

On Tuesday, the association announced that it had parted ways with its acting CEO Leslie Sedibe following an agreement by both parties.

Sedibe, who is affectionately known as a top celebrity lawyer, replaced Raymond Hack ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup last year.

SAFA President Kirsten Nematandani said they will begin the interviewing process for the new CEO on 7 and 8 February.

In the interim, the association has appointed the Director of International Affairs, Pinky Lehoko, as acting CEO. Lehoko will be assisted by Finance Director Gronie Hluyo and the two will report to an oversight committee.

Lehoko is an experienced administrator who has served SAFA for 18 years in various capacities, including working in the 2006 bid committee.

Nematandani said he was confident that the association's programmes and projects would be actioned with vigour. He thanked Sedibe for agreeing to stay on until the end of January.

"We wish our former CEO the best of luck in his future endeavours. Our immediate task as the leadership is to give strategic support to staff, and to ensure that the process of appointing the new CEO is completed as soon as possible," Nematandani said.
