Petrol price to drop by 10 cents

Pretoria - Motorists will be given some relief when the price of petrol decreases next Wednesday.

The Department of Energy on Friday announced that the price of all grades of petrol will drop by 10 cents. A litre of petrol in Gauteng will now cost R8.07 while it will cost R8.83 at the coast.

There will be no change to the wholesale price of Diesel 0.05 percent; however, Diesel 0.005 percent will increase by 2 cents.

The price of illuminating Paraffin (wholesale) will decrease by 5 cents and that of the Single Maximum National Retail Price for illuminating paraffin will fall by 7 cents a litre.

The Maximum Retail Price for LPGAS will fall by 26 cents in the Gauteng region.

"During the period under review, the average international product prices of Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased," the department said.

Last month, the petrol price also dropped by 10 cents.
