Bloemfontein - The Free State intends keeping a watchful eye over their estimated 2 500 bursary holders who benefitted from a R126 million investment towards their education.
"Today we are here meeting students to continue motivating them, to say wherever they are we are watching them and this month we will be going to their various universities to further motivate them," said Free State Premier, Ace Magashule, during a bursary function held at Tsoseletso High School recently.
Government has declared education priority number one and the province saw it as imperative to invest money in developing skills in fields such as medicine and economics.
Magashule encouraged students to visit various government departments during the holidays to gain some practical experience. The Premier's office is also in talks with the private sector to train students.
"I want the students to be exposed to various environments, be it private sector or government," he added.
Education MEC, Tate Makgoe, said although it was a challenge to raise the money, the province knew that it would benefit the province and the country in the long-term.
