Durban- President Jacob Zuma has urged South African businesses to invest in Sierra Leone's economy.
Zuma was speaking at the African Centre for Constructive Resolution of Disputes' (ACCROD) 7th Africa Peace Awards in Durban on Friday, where the West African country was given the award for their efforts in turning conflict into peace.
Zuma said he believed that foreign direct investment was the best vehicle for developing the African continent and the global South.
"Through its private sector, South Africa has a unique opportunity to be a locomotive for change and development on the African continent.
"It is because of this unique quality that we encourage our business community to seriously consider investing in Sierra Leone," he said.
He also urged civil society to form partnerships with their counterparts in Sierra Leone in an effort to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
"We will continue to work together to bring about an improved quality of life for all our people," he said.
