Pretoria - Department of Labour inspectors are investigating yet another death reported on Wednesday afternoon of a worker who was fatally injured by an explosion of a fuel tanker at a Sasol plant in Sasolburg, Northern Free State.
According to reports, the worker who was employed as a driver of a fuel transporting truck of HIFA Carriers, a Sasol firm service provider, got injured while attempting to inspect the leaking truck tanker which was stationary at the plant.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was air lifted to the nearest hospital where he died while receiving medical care.
"The inspectors have cordoned-off the area where the incident happened and are currently probing circumstances surrounding the tragedy that befell the driver," said department spokesperson Page Boikanyo.
The department has urged workers to take full charge of their workplace health and safety at all times to avoid unnecessary injuries and fatalities
