Pretoria - Soccer fans travelling to the Portugal and Brazil game on Friday in Durban can see a different side of the country by using the Shosholoza Meyl.
The long distance train will depart from Johannesburg's Park Station on Thursday evening at 21h00 and arrive in Durban Friday morning at 10h00.
The train will stop at the Moses Mabhida Stadium station where passengers can disembark.
"We are giving people an opportunity to travel to the game without having to worry about traffic," said Passenger Rail Head of Communications Nana Zenani.
"People will also have an opportunity to do other things once they are in Durban, they go for shopping or any other things before the game starts," she said.
Passengers can choose one of two packages; the Tourist Class for R475 (Return), which can accommodate four people per cabin and offers sleeping accommodation, dining cars, communal showers and rest rooms, excluding bedding, meals and drinks, all of which can be purchased on board.
The Premier Class, at a cost of R1 600 (Return) offers plasma screens in the lounges, smokers and non-smokers lounge, fine cuisine with award winning wines, crisp linen and robes, three meals a day and sleeps two people per cabin.
The game between Portugal and Brazil will kick-off at 16h00.
The train will leave Durban at 22h00 on Friday and will arrive in Johannesburg on Saturday morning.
