Churches roped in to help communities

Botshabelo - Free State Premier Ace Magashule has called on churches to come on board and help government rejuvenate the town and assist the vulnerable.

He made the call at the launch of Operation Hlasela in Botshabelo, a programme to help alleviate poverty, create jobs and revitalise communities.

Magashule said churches play an influential role in the community and as government they need to recognise their roles in the community and work with them.

He said they can help identify families that are in need, children that require child grants and people that need Identification Documents among other things.

"The church can play a vital role in bridging communication with people in the communities. This can help government activities, communication and programmes reach the masses and not only a selected few."

Church leaders were given an opportunity to voice their concerns and tell the Premier and his Cabinet where they need the most assistance.

The premier said through Operation Hlasela most of their concerns could be easily addressed.
