Pretoria - Denmark came from a goal down to beat Cameroon 2-1 in a match that saw the Indomitable Lions dreams of proceeding to the next round of the World Cup end on Saturday night.
Despite securing an early lead through a brilliant Samuel Eto'o strike, Nicklas Bendtner and Dennis Rommedahl came back to score the two goals for Denmark ensuring their three solid points.
Bendtner's equalizer came in the 33rd minute after Eto'o had put Cameroon ahead in the 10th minute. An interception by Achille Webo found Eto'o unmarked in front of goal and the top Inter Milan striker did not waste time and easily beat the Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.
After trailing behind for much of the first half, Denmark replied when Simon Kjaer sent a long pass from deep inside the Danish half down the right wing to Rommedahl who did not miss. Both teams desperately needed the win to advance to the next level of the tournament.
The Danes scored their second goal in the 61st minute in a fine strike by Rommedahl through his powerful left foot. Cameroon Coach Paul Le Guen made three changes to the side that lost 1-nil to Japan in their opening game.
Denmark's win also helped the Netherlands proceed to the round of 16, the first team to advance.
The Cameroonians find themselves at the bottom of Group D with zero points. Both Denmark and Japan, who will meet each other in a final group match on June 24, are now on three points each.
