Pretoria - Former President Nelson Mandela's great grand-daughter Zenani Mandela was laid to rest on Thursday, following a moving ceremony at the St Stithians College Chapel in Johannesburg.
Mourners included the former President and his wife Gra±a Machel as well as several of her school mates, all clad in their school uniforms.
Thirteen-year-old Zenani was killed in a car accident in the early hours last Friday morning, after attending the 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-off Concert in Orlando, Soweto.
At the beginning of the service, a slideshow of pictures of her life, including hers and Mandela's, were shown.
According to her uncle, Prince Zinhle Dlamini, two day before Friday's accident, on the day that she turned 13, Zenani met Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Described as being energetic and adventurous, Zenani was a member of her school choir, the marimba club and drumming band. She also played the saxophone and piano.
Music star John Legend, supermodel Naomi Campbell and actor John Travolta and his wife, were among those that sent their condolences to the family.
"She lived an adventurous life and was always full of energy and was such a bundle of joy. I would do anything just to see Zeni one more time, just so I can say to her, 'I love you," said her father Casey Moyo, in a message read by a family friend.
