Johannesburg-Avid Bafana Bafana supporter, Thulani Ngcobo, wants to break the Guinness World Record by attending 38 games of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Since the kick-off of the global event on June 11 at Soccer City, Ngcobo from Soshanguve has watched 15 live games at various stadiums across the country.

"My other home is the stadium. I am living my dream of attending all the 2010 FIFA World Cup games.

"In the past, I have attempted to attend all Bafana home matches and watch all their away games on television," he said.

Ngcobo 2010, as he is now affectionately known, is the winner of the MTN Last Fan Standing competition. The purpose of the competition was to give the ultimate South African football fan the most incredible football experience. The Last Fan Standing competition saw eight finalists selected over the MTN8 tournament period.

His prize includes a record-breaking attempt to watch 38 World Cup matches live, at all ten stadiums, eight groups, at least 30 of the participating teams, 28 group stage games, four round of 16, two quarter finals, two semi-finals, third and fourth place and the final match at Soccer City on July 11.

As a result, Ngcobo 2010 will travel over 17,000 kilometres.

"I had to pinch myself to believe it was real. I could hardly believe I was amongst the crowd of supporters, celebrating the opening match with thousands of other foot-ball loving fans from around the world," he said.

To meet the requirements of his 38 match Guinness World Record, after attending a match at 13:30 in Green Point Stadium, Cape Town, Ngcobo will immediately rush to the airport to catch a flight to Johannesburg to watch a match at 20:30.

Guinness World Record adjudicator, Jason Curran is already in the country to closely monitor and validate Ngcobo's match attendance.

Should he manage to break the record, the Bafana supporter will be awarded with an official Guinness World Record Certificate at the match between Spain and Chile at Loftus Versfeld stadium on June 25.

"I must be the luckiest football fan at this tournament and I am also grateful that I am experiencing all of this, because I am absolutely crazy about football," he said.

The current Guinness World Record standard is 20 games.
