Johannesburg- Bafana Bafana head coach, Carlos Allberto Parreira, announced the 25-man squad headed for Germany for a three week training camp.
Surprise inclusions to the squad included Katlego Mashego and Siyabonga Nomvete.
Parreira said the door was still open for players, who display tactical and social discipline, to make the final World Cup squad.
At a press briefing on Thursday, Parreira said Bafana was now competitive tactically and physically.
He said: "The Germany camp is getting closer to the World Cup, so we have to show some improvements as a team, we can't afford any retrogression, and as a result we have to improve further from our previous gains."
The squad leaves for Germany on April 12 and will return to South Africa on April 30. Three warm up matches against formidable German teams on April 20, 22 and 24 have been lined up. An international friendly against China has also been lined up for April 28.
SAFA CEO, Leslie Sedibe, said the association is satisfied with the level of Bafana Bafana's World Cup preparations.
"The Brazil camp was a resounding success. The coach and his technical team have achieved what they had set out to do in South America, we are glad that all the players have responded positively to the assignment.
"Germany is our next step and it presents us with an opportunity to take the team's preparations to another level," he said.
