Pretoria - A 39-year-old biker, who was arrested clocking 226km/h in a 120km/h zone along the N14 in the North West on Monday, will today appear before the Vryburg Magistrate Court for reckless driving.

Public Safety and Liaison spokesperson, Simon Lesolang Mmope, said the errant biker allegedly sped off when traffic officers stopped him outside Vryburg. Officials say he was at the time headed to Gauteng.

Mmope said traffic officers alerted their colleagues, who then arrested him. He was immediately taken to Vryburg police station holding cells.

North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Desbo Mohono, commended the traffic officials for acting swiftly in arresting the suspect.

She further appealed to road users to adhere to road signs and speed limits, and further to cooperate with traffic law enforcement officials on the road.
