Pretoria - Cabinet has approved the 2010 FIFA World Cup Country Report for circulation to all relevant stakeholders, acting Cabinet spokesperson, Phumla Williams, announced on Thursday.
According to Williams, this report accounts for all the financial resources that were allocated for the implementation of the 17 government guarantees given to FIFA.
"This report will also serve as a reference guide and benchmark for planning other major sporting events," she said.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup took place in South Africa from 11 June to 11 July 2010. The bidding process for hosting the tournament finals was open only to African nations in 2004.
The international football federation, FIFA, selected South Africa over Egypt and Morocco to become the first African nation to host the finals. - SAnews.gov.za
