Pretoria - Cabinet has expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the late Free State Health MEC Fundiswa Ngubentombi and one of her security personnel who died in a car crash at the weekend.
The two were killed in an accident on the N1 outside Bloemfontein.
After serving as the MEC for public works and rural development from 2009, the late mother of five and former teacher was then appointed Health MEC in February last year.
Cabinet also expressed sadness at the untimely death of South Africa's first democratic Cabinet Secretary, Professor Jakes Gerwel as well as the passing away of the first democratic President of the Constitutional Court, former Chief Justice Arthur Chaskalson.
Gerwel died at age 66 at the Kuils River Hospital in the Western Cape a week ago.
