Pretoria - The FIFA World Cup Ticketing Sub-Committee will open a call centre on Monday to assist soccer fans who want buy tickets for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Horst Schmidt, chairman of the FIFA World Cup Ticketing Sub-Committee, said the call centre will operate from 10:30 am until 7:30 pm, South African time.
"The fans understand that time is crucial now, as the tickets are allocated on a first come first served basis and that they should not wait for the last minute over-the-counter sales," he said.
The call centre will use South African number 083 123 2010 as well as international number +41 44583 2010.
Schmidt said the first 100 hours of the 4th ticket sales phase had already seen a total of 74 146 tickets being sold, while an additional 130 000 applications were still being processed.
However, the confirmations are expected to be sent by the beginning of this week. This second-last sales phase which kicked-off on February 9 will run until 7 April.
"We have already had more than 200 000 tickets requested within 100 hours, a number we are truly happy with," he said.
