Cold weather conditions persist

Pretoria - It's time to stock up on winter essentials - if you have not yet done so - as the South African Weather Services (SAWS) says cold conditions will remain in most parts of the country following yesterday's rains and falling of snow in some areas.

Cold conditions will prevail in the Northern Cape, northern parts of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, Free State and the North West.

According to SAWS forecaster Ezekiel Sebego, this will be the case for most parts of the country, but reprieve is on the horizon.

"The situation will get better over the weekend as rain is not expected in most parts of the country," Sebego said.

In Gauteng, there will be light rain and cloudy conditions, which will remain for the rest of the day.

Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, Free State and the Northern Cape, will also be cloudy, with some parts becoming partly cloudy and cold, and at times there will be isolated showers.

In the Western Cape, there will be strong winds in some parts, especially along the coast.
