Parliament - A condolence book has been opened for parliamentarians and members of the public to sign and write their messages of sympathy to the family of the late Helen Suzman.
Parliament's National Assembly Speaker Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde on Tuesday opened and signed the book of condolences for Ms Suzman who died earlier this month.
Members of the public can sign the book which will be on the ground floor of the new wing at the entrance to the National Assembly.
At the time of her death, Ms Mahlangu-Nkabinde described the late Ms Suzman as a pioneer of the South African Parliament.
"Even though Ms Suzman was no longer involved in the affairs of Parliament at the time of her death, she nonetheless leaves a rich tradition of proactive opposition politics behind," said Ms Mahlangu-Nkabinde at the time.
A testament to the life and work of Ms Suzman is evident in her twice having been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, winning the United Nations Award for Human Rights in 1978, receiving the gold Order of Merit in 1997 from former President Nelson Mandela, and receiving an honorary doctorate from various national and international universities.
