Pretoria - Doctors are satisfied with the progress being made by former President Nelson Mandela, says the Presidency.
Madiba spent his 11th day in a Pretoria hospital on Tuesday. He has had an operation to remove gallstones.
"Doctors are satisfied that the progress he is making is consistent with his age. They say there is no crisis, but add that they are in no hurry to send him home just yet until they are satisfied that he has made sufficient progress," said President Jacob Zuma in a statement on Tuesday.
Zuma urged the public to continue supporting Madiba but also called on the public to understand that Madiba is 94 years old and in need of extra-ordinary care.
"If he spends more days in hospital, it is because the necessary care is being provided. We wish the family strength during this period. They have the love and support of the whole nation,'' said Zuma.
Mac Maharaj, the Presidential spokesperson visited Mandela in hospital yesterday. He said the former statesman looked much better and that he had asked him what he was doing at the hospital.
"I asked him not to give doctors any trouble," said Maharaj.
