Pretoria – The Eastern Cape Department of Safety and Liaison has partnered with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) to address the triple challenges facing the youth in the province.

The partnership is part of the implementation of the National Development Plan (NDP-Vision 2030) to address the triple challenges including unemployment, poverty and inequality among youth in the province, which contribute towards the spread of criminal activities.

The department said that the nature of the partnership is mainly focusing on intensifying fight against crime through the introduction of Entrepreneurship Programme for youth in the province.

“The programme has been consciously and deliberately designed to focus on 9 modules, which upon completion of the programme, learners will be registered on NYDA database; will have access to NYDA Grants; will have access to NYDA Mentorship Programme and will have access to NYDA voucher system,” the department said.

Successful candidates will also receive certificates upon completion of all 9-modules.

The programme will be implemented in all district municipalities in the province as well as in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality, particularly the Northern Areas, with effect from 01 February 2016 to 25th March 2016.  – SAnews.gov.za
