Durban - The German camp are holding their breath as their star midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger faces a race against time ahead of their giant round of 16 clash against England.
Schweinsteiger has played an instrumental role in the German midfield and took on some defence duties in the absence of his captain Michael Ballack, who missed the 2010 FIFA World Cup due to injury.
During Germany's final group match against Ghana, the Bayern Munich midfielder suffered a thigh injury and was replaced by Toni Kroos in the final ten minutes before time.
Germany are also sweating over the fitness of Jerome Boateng. The German defender was substituted in the second half of the match as a result of a calf injury.
Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil who helped Germany reach the next round is expected to take the field against England after an injury scare.
The Werder Bremen midfielder Ozil twisted his ankle during the same match but the German management team is confident of his participation.
Meanwhile, England will be happy with the news that Wayne Rooney will be fit to face Germany after suffering an ankle injury in his side's victory over Slovenia.
The Manchester United striker trained with his English team-mates on Thursday.
