Good deeds rewarded

Pretoria - North West organisations and individuals, who have made a difference in child and family care, HIV and AIDS, community based care and youth development will be awarded on Friday.

North West MEC for Health and Social Development, Rebecca Kasienyane, will be awarding the organisations and individuals who contributed towards the uplifment of their community, during the provincial Community Builder of the Year Awards.

The awards recognise community workers for their outstanding work and sacrifice, irrespective of race, colour or creed, in the quest to build a South Africa that truly belongs to all.

Two projects from each district, including Ngaka Modiri Molema, Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Bojanala and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, will be competing in two categories - Social Welfare and Poverty Eradication.

The categories have been divided into those previously funded by government and those that never received government funding.

The unfunded category carries a price tag of R120 000. The winner will receive R50 000, while first runner up receives R40 000 with second runner up, getting R20 000.

Projects competing under the previously funded category will share a total price money of R60 000. The overall winner walks away with R30 000, the first runner up will take home R20 000, whilst the second runner up receive R10 000.
