Pretoria - Deon du Plessis will be remembered for his outstanding contributions to the publishing industry and journalism, says GCIS CEO and Cabinet spokesperson Jimmy Manyi.
Du Plessis, publisher of The Daily Sun, died from acute bronchitis at his Johannesburg home on Sunday.
Manyi extended condolences on behalf of government to Du Plessis' family and colleagues in the media industry.
He also noted Du Plessis' illustrious career that spanned many years at a number of publications.
"As the founder of The Daily Sun, Deon du Plessis ensured that many more South Africans were able to have access to news and entertainment, and that contributed significantly to changing the newspaper landscape in the country," Manyi added. - BuaNews
