Pretoria - The National Lotteries Board (NLB) will hold roadshows countrywide to educate potential applicants on processes that would improve their chances of successfully accessing funding from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF).
Some of the most frequent reasons applications were rejected previously included incomplete documentation, non-compliant financial statements, applications being made late or for the wrong sector, weak corporate governance and insufficient reporting methods.
"We believe the roadshows will help the NLB respond to its mandate, which is to disburse moneys received from the National Lottery to worthy causes and contribute to national socio-economic development, especially by supporting upliftment in underdeveloped communities across South Africa," said Alfred Nevhutanda, Chairperson of the NLB.
It is expected that several hundred representatives from various community-based, non-governmental and non-profit organisations, public benefit trusts and cultural and sports bodies will attend each meeting.
Jeffrey du Preez, the Chief Operations Officer of the NLB, said they wanted to level the playing field so that organisations across all provinces can successfully apply for funding, and therefore ensuring a more equitable distribution of funds.
