Mangaung ready for Honduras, Switzerland clash

Bloemfontein - It's all systems go for the City of Roses as they get ready to host their first FIFA World Cup night game between Switzerland and Honduras.

The two teams will be battling it out tonight in Mangaung at 20:30pm.

Mangaung municipality's 2010 Media Liaison Director, Lele Mamatu said all systems are in place for tonight's game and the city is confident that it will go smoothly.

"This is our first night match and we are excited about it and as all preparations with regards to traffic, safety and transport are still in place as with all other matches," he said.

He said routes around the stadium will be closed prior to the match and traffic will be controlled around the stadium to ensure it moves smoothly.

"People have been very cooperative and we have not experienced any major challenges and it has been appreciated as it's meant to be an enjoyable experience for everyone," he added.

Supporters of the two teams have been streaming into the city since this morning and excitement is building up.

"We hope Switzerland will win," said three tourists from Switzerland who are in Bloemfontein to watch the match in support of their team. "2 - 0 will be the score, in support of Switzerland of course," said Hugo Sporraedli.

Apart from the expectation of a win tonight, they said Bloemfontein has received them well and they have enjoyed their experience so far.

"The people are so nice, they greet and ask how we are which is really heart-warming," said Erwin and Rosli Lamport who were waiting for a tour bus to go site-seeing around the town.

A group from Honduras is also anticipating a great battle with their team coming claiming victory. "South Africans have really been great and I'm sure even at tonight's game it will remain a great experience," said the group of friends who have been travelling across the country watching various games in support of their team.
