Pretoria - Cabinet spokesperson Jimmy Manyi and parliamentary journalists met on Monday night in a first-of-its-kind gathering since Manyi took up the position.
The meeting with the Parliamentary Press Gallery Association (PGA) served as a platform for parties to discuss the process of facilitating the transparency of government's messages and balanced media coverage of government.
"Matters of mutual concern and the building of a constructive relationship between the two bodies, the PGA and the GCIS [Government Communication and Information System], were discussed," said Manyi.
Building on last night's meeting, the two parties have agreed to hold follow up sessions when necessary.
