Deputy President Paul Mashatile will on Friday, 17 November, lead the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on a land reform outreach visit to the Mopani District Municipality in Limpopo.
The country’s second-in-command will conduct the outreach in his capacity as Chairperson of the IMC on Land Reform and Agriculture.
The land reform outreach programme, according to the Presidency, will focus on strengthening partnerships and fostering a positive collaboration between government and social partners to accelerate the land reform programme and enhance agricultural productivity.
“In particular, the oversight visit will provide the IMC on Land Reform and Agriculture the opportunity to assess progress achieved by government in the implementation of the land reform programme," a Presidency statement said.
Mashatile is also expected to interact with the organised farming community.
This exercise, the Presidency said, is part of strengthening a coordinated government approach and towards ensuring that restituted land is complemented with a targeted package of development support.
The visit will also ensure that the beneficiaries of restituted land are empowered to utilise their land productively.
The statement said the Deputy President will arrive at Selwana Nature Reserve in Phalaborwa and will also make a stop at the Moletele Farm, located around Hoedspruit.
He will also engage with the farming community at Grovedale 239KT Sports Ground near Moletele Packhouse. – SAnews.gov.za
