Matric practical exams kick off

Pretoria - The 2011 Matric exams got underway today with learners across the country siting for their practical papers.

Today learners sat for a three-hour first paper in Computer Application Technology Practical paper while on Tuesday they will sit for an Information Technology Practical paper.

On Wednesday, they will sit for a three-hour Information Technology Paper 2 Theory and Computer Application Technology Paper 2 Theory.

The big day for all matric learners will be on 24 October, where a total of 620 266 learners including 512 029 full time and 108 237 learners will be writing a two-hour English Home Language and First Additional Language Paper 1, and a two-and-half hour English Second Additional Language.

The last day of the exams will be written on 1 December, with Religious Studies Paper 2 and Design.

Prayer services were held in various parts of the country ahead of the exams to motivate and wish the matriculants good luck in their final exams, and also that everything proceeds smoothly during the exams.
