Pretoria - KwaZulu-Natal's MEC for Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, will be among the visitors eager to get a peek at new born babies at the GJ Crookes Hospital come New Year's Day.
Dhlomo will be among the well wishers lining up to congratulate the mothers and fuss over the new borns. He is also expected to present them with gifts on behalf of his department.
"A new baby is like the beginning of all things - wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities. To become a mother is one of life's greatest blessings. It is a lifelong event that forever changes you. Becoming a mother changes your heart, your thoughts, and your actions," he said.
Over Christmas, 78 babies were born in the province. The first Christmas baby, a girl, was welcomed at the St Benedictine Hospital in Nongoma at midnight with a baby boy delivered at the same hospital just three minutes later.
