Memorial for Joe Mathews on Friday

Pretoria - The memorial service for the late Deputy Minister of Safety and Security, Joe Matthew, will take place on Friday at the Groote Schuur Estate in Rondebosch in Cape Town at 7pm.

This will be followed by a funeral service on Saturday. Mourners will gather at St George's Cathedral, 5 Wale Street at 10am.

The 81-year-old and father of Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor passed away in hospital in Johannesburg last Thursday.

Matthews retired from Parliament in 2004 after having served as the Deputy Safety and Security Minister in the government of national unity following the first democratic elections in 1994.
