Pretoria - Correctional Services Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqcakula today announced the appointment of her department's new Inspecting Judge of Correctional Centres, Judge Vuka Tshabalala.
President Jacob Zuma made the appointment of the new Inspecting Judge.
According to Mapisa-Nqcakula, the new Inspecting Judge will serve the department for a period of three years starting on 1 November 2011.
Making the announcement in Pretoria, Mapisa-Nqcakula said she welcomed the appointment of the new Inspecting Judge.
"As the Executive Authority in the department and also on behalf of Correctional Services National Commissioner as the accounting officer, we pledge to support his office and the inspectorate," the minister said.
Mapisa-Nqcakula also thanked outgoing Judge Deon van Zyl for his contributions during the past three years and wished him all the best in his future endeavours.
Judge van Zyl's term ends on 31 October.
