Pretoria - Arts and Culture Minister Lulu Xingwana has expressed shock and sadness at the death of well-known actress Fiona Coyne.
The body of the 45-year-old was found at her home in Cape Town yesterday.
In a statement, the minister said Coyne was known for her "biting wit" which alarmed many contestants on the television programme "The Weakest Link". She was the host of the programme.
Coyne was a member of Capab Drama Company and wrote many plays and a book titled "Who moved my Ladder" which was a working woman's guide to success. She was also a conservation activist on both flora and fauna.
"She also served on the Theatre Advisory Panel for the National Arts Council which I appreciated. South Africa has lost a highly talented and experienced all-rounder. Our sincerest condolences to her husband, family and friends," the minister said.
