Pretoria - Gauteng Premier, Nomvula Mokonyane, has expressed sadness at the recent "gruesome and shameful" killing of 26-year-old Duduzile Zozo of Thokoza, Ekurhuleni.

Zozo’s half naked body was found in Thokoza on Sunday morning. Her mother, Thuziwe Zozo, has said she suspects her daughter was killed for being a lesbian.

“This senseless act is unacceptable. We urge community members to go to the police with any information that will lead to the successful arrest of the people responsible for this barbaric act, so that they can face the full might of the law,” said Mokonyane.

The Premier emphasised that there was no place for people who disregard the country’s national pride of unity in diversity,  and infringe other people’s right to human dignity and freedom of association as enshrined in the country’s constitution.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Zozo family, our prayers are with you,” said Mokonyane. – SAnews.gov.za
