Hazyview - Mpumalanga's Education MEC Reginah Mhaule says she is satisfied with the progress of the final matric exams in the province.
On Monday, Mhaule visited Sibukosetfu Secondary School in Kamajika outside Hazyview, where she monitored pupils writing their exams.
"I must say that I am satisfied with the seamless progress to date. Since last week Monday there were no glitches reported as learners were writing practical subjects," said Mhaule.
The MEC said the department had enhanced security measures around the administration of the examinations.
"I want to emphasise that the department is doing everything possible to administer incident free and credible examinations," she said.
Mhaule urged pupils to stay focused and pray in order to succeed on their exams.
"Stay focused, work hard and you will reap the rewards to your 12 years of formal schooling. You should continue to respect your parents and teachers, listen to their guidance and pray for success," she said.
The pupils were also encouraged to continue studying until they write their last paper.
Mhaule, said officials working in her department haven't rested since the beginning of the year.
"We intensified programmes implemented last year such as the winter classes, encouraged schools to convene weekend classes, visited schools and developed a programme to deal specifically with schools which performed below 20%.
"We also convened spring classes, preceded with the Dial a Tutor Programme and so on," said Mhaule.
She said she was confident that the schools that did not do very well last year would improve their performance by 10% this year.
