In its concerted effort to boost the provision of services across all local municipalities in the province, the North West Provincial Government will be rolling out an extensive public service at Mamusa Local Municipality, in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality.
Led by North West Premier, Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi, government departments, including local and district municipalities, along with State-owned entities, will roll out the Accelerated Service Delivery Programme (ASDP) - Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded - to residents of Mamusa Local Municipality during an event to be held in the open area, next to Migdol Library, on Friday.
The programme seeks to enhance the municipalities’ basic infrastructure, monitor and enforce consumer compliance, and promote the provision of basic services in a coordinated and collaborative manner.
The programme also aims to provide the communities with an opportunity to engage with the provincial leadership on service delivery issues.
“A multitude of these public services will be rendered in areas including Migdol, Amalia, Glaudina, and Ipelegeng in Schweizer-Reneke,” the provincial government said in a statement.
The local municipality, facing water challenges for some time, will have its bulk water augmentation and sewer projects currently under construction in Ipelegeng, inspected by the provincial leadership.
The two projects are designed to provide much-needed relief to the water supply for the community of Schweizer-Reneke.
The provincial government said it was committed to providing decent housing for low-income families.
As part of this service delivery programme, the team will hand over five recently completed RDP houses to beneficiaries in Glaudina. At the same time, 42 title deeds will be presented to qualifying residents in Migdol.
Efforts to create a comfortable and productive teaching and learning environment will be realised with the handover of 10 classrooms at Ikgomotseng Primary School.
In addition, classroom furniture, including chairs and tables, will be provided to Itshupeng Primary School, while chairs will be delivered to Mampho Secondary School in Ipelegeng, Schweizer-Reneke.
“As a build-up to the Friday Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded programme, non-functioning streetlights and high mast lights across the local municipality are being repaired, while identified potholes are being patched and internal roads bladed,” the provincial government said.
The team will also distribute food parcels to identified destitute families, providing agricultural support packages and garden tools.
They will also inspect spaza shops, register indigent individuals in mass, update local business details on the Central Supplier Database (CSD), and facilitate online applications for identity documents (IDs) and social support services.
The Premier will be joined by Members of the Executive Council (MECs), and local and district Executive Mayors.
Together, they aim to improve municipalities’ basic infrastructure, ensure consumer compliance, and promote the coordinated and collaborative delivery of essential services
“As a constant and critical feature of this service delivery programme, a platform will be created for Premier Mokgosi, MECs, and the Executive Mayors to engage with the community on progress registered in implementing various service delivery projects and programmes in their municipality.
“This community feedback session will be held after the leadership visits various service delivery sites.” – SAnews.gov.za
