Ndulula not part of All Africa Games team

Pretoria - Amaglug-glug flew to Mozambique for the All Africa Games without their golden striker, Bongani "Drogba" Ndulula, who cannot stop scoring for the national Under-23 national squad.

The Orlando Pirates striker has equalled Siyabonga Nomvete's long-standing record for Amaglug-glug goals following his brace against Zimbabwe in an All-Africa Games qualifier in June.

The ageing Moraka Swallows forward, Nomvete, netted 15 times in 25 appearances for Amaglug-glug between 1997 and 2000, while Ndulula has matched that record in only 14 appearances.

If Ndulula was part of the Shakes Mashaba 17-man squad, he was certainly going to break this current record. It is not clear if Orlando Pirates had refused to release the striker.

Amaglug-glug will play the host Mozambique on Saturday. South Africa is drawn in Group A with Mozambique, Libya and Madagascar.

Group B comprises Cameroon, Uganda, Senegal and Ghana. The All Africa Games tournament will end on September 18.

The South African Under-23 players are: Brilliant Khuzwayo, Boalefa Pule, Sibusiso Mxoyana, Siyabonga Zulu, Thamsanqa Sangweni, Enrico Adolph, Wilson Mkhwanazi, Katlego Pule, Sibusiso Khumalo, Khunadi Nkoana, Masalesa Lehlohonolo, Themba Zwane, Jabulani Shongwe, Thabang Motau, Fisimpilo Ntombela, Phumelele Bhengu and Riaan Eugene.
