New head for GCIS

Pretoria - Jimmy Manyi, the Director-General of the Department of Labour, will take over from Themba Maseko as Chief Executive Officer of GCIS and Cabinet spokesperson with immediate effect.

Minister in The Presidency, Collins Chabane, said on Wednesday Maseko requested to be moved within government following his four-year tenure in Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) and Cabinet spokesperson.

Maseko will join the Department of Public Service and Administration as Director General.

"Both Mr Maseko and Mr Manyi bring with them the wealth of experience and expertise from both the public and the private sector, which will assist them in executing their duties," said Chabane in a statement.

Minister Chabane, on behalf of President Jacob Zuma, Cabinet and government, thanked Maseko for his sterling contribution to the government communication system over the years and wished him well as DG of DPSA.

Chabane also welcomed Manyi as Cabinet spokesperson and wished him well as the CEO of GCIS.
