Pretoria - North West Premier, Thandi Modise, says the changes that she made to her provincial cabinet on Thursday were aimed at strengthening good governance, accelerate service delivery, maintain stability and uproot corruption.
Premier Modise discharged the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Boitumelo Tshwene,,MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Hlomane Chauke and MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport, Mahlakeng Mahlakeng.
Tshwene has been replaced by former Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison MEC Desbo Mohono, while Chauke was replaced by the former MEC for Economic Development, Tebogo Modise.
Former Education MEC, Raymond Elisha replaced Mahlakeng and former Deputy Provincial Legislature Speaker, Motlalepule Rosho is the new MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism.
Former Speaker of the Legislature, Nono Maloyi, has been appointed new MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison.
New member of the Executive Council, China Dodovu, is the new MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs.
Both Dr Magome Masike and Mosetsanagape Makomele-Mothibi have been retained as MEC for Health and Social Development, Women, Children and People with Disabilities respectively.
"We wish to reassure our communities that we are committed to clean governance, to fight corruption and maladministration across all departments, including municipalities and will not spare any effort but redouble our efforts to accelerate the pace of our delivery programmes," said Modise.
