Pretoria - Operation Fiela, a multi-disciplinary operation led by the South African Police Service, swooped on Wesbank in Mfuleni, Western Cape, on Tuesday.
The focus of the operation included drugs, firearms, stolen goods and many other crime trends that are troubling the community in that area.
Police in cooperation with the SANDF, traffic departments and Metro Police, conducted a cordoned off search, as well as stop and search operations.
The operation saw three suspects detained on warrants of arrests. One arrested for domestic violence and two for contempt of court.
Five suspects aged between 22 and 41 years were arrested for possession of dagga and Mandrax.
The arrested suspects are expected to appear in the Kuilsrivier Magistrates' Court once they have been charged.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Thembisile Patekile thanked the commitment shown by all law enforcement agencies in ridding out criminal activities in communities.
“We are committed to uprooting crime and protecting the communities.”
Patekile also called on communities to come forward with information of other criminal activities.
