Police bust alleged ID, driver’s licences syndicate

Pretoria - The police in Limpopo have arrested four men, who are alleged to be part of a syndicate which manufactures fraudulent identity documents and fake driver’s licences.

The four were arrested in their rooms in Seshego and Mmotong, where they conduct their business.

Police were alerted about the syndicate by some of the victims -- who had paid R5 000 to receive their Code C1 (10) driver’s licences immediately -- after they were arrested when they tried to renew their fake licences.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said during the bust, police found hundreds of fraudulent IDs and vehicle permits.

Many documents, including learner’s licences and as well as stamps, were found in the possession of suspects, said Mulaudzi.

The four will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. – SAnews.gov.za
