Pretoria – Police Minister Nathi Nhleko and his deputy Maggie Sotyu will today visit the families of the two protectors killed in the crash that claimed the life of Public Service and Administration Minister Collins Chabane.
The Minister and Deputy Minister will visit the families of Sergeants Lesiba Sekele and Lawrence Lentsoane, who were killed in the N1 crash in Limpopo on Sunday morning.
“The Ministry of Police is prioritising the health and wellness of active police officers for the governance term 2014 - 2019 and ensuring that maximum efficient support is provided to the families who lost their loved ones in the line of duty,” said the Police Ministry.
The visit will take place at Hwafeng section Vlaka in Ga-Marishane in Limpopo.
Earlier this week, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the two protectors of the late Minister Chabane will be afforded official funerals. The Deputy President visited Sekele’s family in Pretoria on Monday.
“We want to be as supportive as we possibly can because it’s important that we should demonstrate the South African government’s condolences and sense of loss at the departure of the three members.
“Our soldiers have fallen. Three trees that were standing strong have fallen and their departure is a huge loss to the people of South Africa and to the government of South Africa and indeed their own families as well,” said the Deputy President at the time.
