Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma's scheduled visit to Nelspruit, Mpumalanga for a Siyahlola Presidential Monitoring Programme has been adversely delayed by bad weather conditions.
According to the Presidency, Zuma is now making use of alternative means of reaching the designated venues.
Once in the area, the President will monitor progress made by the Mbombela Municipality in the protection of disability rights and related government services to the communities.
He is expected to visit various projects that have been undertaken by the Mpumalanga Province to improve the lives of the disabled people, including the Tentele Activity Centre, a centre that provides skills for people with disabilities and the Kanyamazane Community Health Care Centre where he will assess for himself how accessible the facilities are for the disabled people.
Zuma is expected to tour the Tenteleni Primary School, which caters for both able and disabled learners.
The visit will conclude with a community engagement session at the Bergvlam High School.
The visit is in line with the National Disability Awareness Month, which runs from 3 November to 3 December. - SAnews.gov.za
