Prof Cyril Karabus found not guilty

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Pretoria - A United Arab Emirates court has found Professor Cyril Karabus not guilty, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation said on Thursday.

“He was in court today and the court has found him not guilty,” departmental spokesperson Clayson Monyela told the eNCA channel on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the department announced a “break through” in Karabus’ case saying he could be heading for home by the end of this week.

It was understood at the time that a UAE medical review committee had absolved Karabus from all blame.

He was convicted in absentia in the UAE on charges of manslaughter and falsifying documents after the death of a three-year-old cancer patient. –SAnews.gov.za
