Cape Town - As the Mother City prepares for the much anticipated opening of Parliament and State of the Nation Address by President Jacob Zuma, members of the public have been warned of the parking restrictions and road closures around the Parliamentary precinct.
From midnight to 10am tomorrow, parking is set to be restricted on Princess Anne Avenue in Newlands, Church Square, Roeland, Plein and Spin streets and Hertzog Boulevard, among others.
On Thursday, from 5.45am and 7am, parts of Klipper Road, Princess Anne Avenue, Newlands Avenue, M3, Woolsack Drive, Anzio Road, Eastern Bouevard (N2), among others, would be shut down to traffic.
Between 4pm and 8pm, Eastern Boulevard, Hertzog Boulevard inbound, Adderly Street, Heerengracht and Wale Street - from the gates of Parliament to Longmarket Street and the Company Gardens - are set to be closed.
Government Avenue, Gallery Lane and St John's Road will be closed for 11 hours between 11am to 10pm.
In order to accommodate movement of invited guests from Parliament to the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Hans Strijdom Avenue and Lower Long Street will be closed between 7.30pm and 10pm.
Roads around the Cape Town International Convention Centre, including Coen Steytler Avenue, will be controlled between 7.30pm and 1pm.
Between 5.30pm and midnight, some of the roads around town will be closed for rehearsals of tomorrow's event.
