SA closes some ports of entry due to extreme weather

Pretoria - Some of the country's ports of entry have been closed due to the extreme weather conditions.

"While the majority of our ports of entry continue to provide the necessary and normal immigration services despite weather conditions, a few others had to be closed down either because the roads are inaccessible or the snowfall in the relevant ports of entry make it impossible for immigration services to be delivered to travellers," said Home Affairs Director-General Mkuseli Apleni on Wednesday.

The Qachasnek border in the Eastern Cape has been closed as well as Monontsha Pass border post in the Free State and Sunnypass and Boesmanshek border posts in KwaZulu-Natal.

The department assured travellers that the ports of entry affected would be opened as soon as the weather conditions improved.
