Pretoria - South Africa has conveyed condolences to the families of 18 people killed in a suicide blast at the United Nations (UN) building in Nigeria on Friday.
The Department of International Relations on Saturday reiterated government's unequivocal condemnation of all such acts of terror and expressed its fullest confidence that the authorities of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will ensure that the perpetrators of these heinous acts face the full might of the law.
"In this moment of pain and suffering, in particular in the case of those families who have lost their loved ones, the Government and people of South Africa's thoughts and prayers go out to all those who have been affected by this deplorable act of terror," the Ministry said.
Witnesses reported that the bomb went off after a suspect forced his way through security and rammed the car into the building.
At least 18 people were killed and eight others were injured. No South Africans were affected by the bombing.
A radical Nigerian Muslim section with links to al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
