SA gets second shot at Casual Day

Pretoria - Pupils and public servants who missed the opportunity to show their support for people with disabilities by participating in Casual Day will be given a second chance.

The Ministry for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities has called on those, who may not have been part of Casual Day celebrations because of the recent public service strike, to use their Causal Day stickers on Friday or any other day the organisation they belong to decides on.

The campaign, which encourages people to buy a R10 Casual Day sticker and then dress casual of the first Friday of September, usually draws lots of support from schools and government department, the ministry said.

This year's campaign raised just more than R2 million, significantly lower that the R17.7 million raised during the campaign in 2009.
