Pretoria - The South African Air Force's Air Show, scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria, promises to be the most exciting yet.
Brigadier General Sam Madumane of the South African Air Force said most of the aircrafts, ranging from the oldest models to the recently acquired ones, will take part in the air show.
Madumane explained that the show was aimed at not only showcasing the SAAF and aircraft's capabilities, but also attracting young people into the Air Force.
It is expected that the show will bring together worldwide industry players to showcase the latest technological innovations.
"We see ourselves as the house of military excellency," he said, adding that the last three Air Shows in Cape Town drew large crowds.
Entrance fee for the show is R50 for adults and R20 for children and pensioners.
The show is in preparation of the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD 2012) event to be held in Cape Town. AAD 2012 is one of the world's premier aerospace and defence events and holds a prominent position within the aviation and defence calendar.
It is the largest exhibition of air, land and sea capabilities on the African continent and showcases the most advanced technologies currently available.
AAD has established itself as a major platform for South Africa's defence, general aviation, space, homelands security, humanitarian relief, disaster management, freight and forwarding services as well as search and rescue technology industries and stakeholders. - BuaNews
