Pretoria - Police in Limpopohave re-arrested a Sangoma, 57 whose case of making a 13-year-old girl his second wife was withdrawn in January earlier this year.
Police spokesperson in the Province Colonel Ronel Otto said the sangoma has allegedly sneaked into a place of safety where the child has been staying following social workers’ recommendations, and introduced himself as her uncle.
He allegedly helped the girl to escape from the facility back to his Masehlaneng village, near Mahwelereng in Mokopane only to marry her again.
After realising that the child was missing from the place of safety administrators contacted the social workers who, after looking at all possible destinations, found the girl at the house of the sangoma.
The man and his mother-in law (the girl’s mother) were arrest on Friday for contravening the court order and will appear before the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court on Monday
The sangoma was first arrested on January 23 after a villager complained to social workers, however charges against him were withdrawn as the girl's parents had consented to the marriage. – SAnews.gov.za
